I was on my way to work a couple of days ago and saw this bird on top of a agave plant.

here in Laredo we have them all over the place .

Mescalito
Originally from the coastal plains of Sonora, Mexico, the Mescalito (Agave felgeri) like full sun and have a high heat tolerance level. These succulents are also able to endure temperatures as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit. They require little to no water and will not do well if over-watered. Their flowers are known to reach heights of 9 feet and usually appear in late spring or fall.

Agave tequilana is perhaps the most important Agave for it is from the emerging flower spike of this plant that Tequila is made. It originates from the state of Tequila in Mexico, where selected clones are grown commercially. This species may be seen bedded out as a large specimen plant in warm climates.
